Under their channel description, there's a "Connect With (Username)" option, under that, there will be Send Message, Add Comment, Add As Friend.. etc. Choose add as friend. If they have the new BETA channel, under their username, to the right of their icon, are the same options. Just choose Add as friend. Remember, you must wait for them to accept or ignore your invitation.

Subscribe to their channel if they are already a YouTube member and contact them that way by sending them an email/PM. Once you join their channel you should be able to contact them. You could also try to leave a contact message in the comments section. But I don't recommend you give out details like your email address in the public comments area.
If they're not a YouTube member then ask them in an email to go to http://www.youtube.com and sign up for an account, then you both can connect.
