Should I invite my friend to my party if my husband cannot stand her husband?

I have this friend, whom I like very much and we have a lot in common. My husband is ok with her too. But he does not like her husband, so we never invite them as a couple. I have birthday party coming up and want to invite them but my husband feels that this guy does not fit in our crowd and does not want to invite them. What should I do? I don't want my friend to get offended.

I think it's pretty selfish of your husband to tell you not to invite your friend to your own birthday just because he doesn't like her husband. He doesn't have to talk to him. I mean, talk to him first, don't just invite them if it'll cause big problems, but he should be able to put his dislike of one person to one side for the night, for your sake. I'm sure there'll be plenty of other people for both of them to talk to.

Reply:I would invite them. There will be other people there and the other husband just may find conversation with someone. I think your husband should be adult enough to be able to handle the situation. He will have friends to talk to, he wouldn't have to uncivil to this other guy for a couple of hours. It's your birthday party and you should have your friend there.
Reply:Tricky situation, but to be honest if they dont fit in they will leave. Its not like your husband has stay close to the other guy.
Reply:As long as it is a group and other people that guy may end up blending in the crowd and there are other people there that your husband can talk with.





I would go ahead and invite them - it may just be a way for your husband to see him differently. everyone makes mistakes, and everyone changes....
