What's so special about G-Mail that you need an invite? Is it really that good?

2 gigs of space (and growing), mainly. However, I assume the invite thing was put into place so they could control how many people were using Gmail, as it was (still is?) in beta mode.

I don't think you even *need* an invite anymore. A link for getting at account is hidden around somewhere, I'm sure. ;)

Gmail is great and you need an invite because it is still in Beta test phase. The new Y!Mail is not bad either...
Reply:yeah.. sure. for me it is the best e-mail provider ever..any way being exclusive for some people make more value to it..
Reply:yaa you can get it at outlook

Reply:Yes, It is too good. Nice features
Reply:gmail is excellent, I use the free pop3 with portable thunderbird and carry my email client with me.

you have lots more storage space (2,7 gigs and counting!)
Reply:becouse it was ment to be used by IT pros till they started to sell there invites on ebay
Reply:I think sending invites is the fastest way of propagation. Mathematically speaking, it would follow an exponential rise. For eg. Google gives 100 invites to every new user then, each user can invite 100 others who each in turn can invite 100 others. I also think it would ensure that most of the Google users would be heavy e-mail/internet users.
Reply:yeah gmail is kool.........it provides many facilities...check it out yourself and youll find d diffrence
