If you have an F-1 visa you can get an F-2 visa for your wife and children so they can accompany you. However, no one has the right to work except you ( 20 hours per week during school time, 40 hours during breaks). You cannot move from F-1 to an immigrant status unless you have a job offer and qualify for an H-1 or other work visa.

If you have a student visa, your wife can come here, but she cannot work. After graduation you would have to look for a job which will sponsor you for a green card and if you get one then you can eventually become a citizen.
Reply:No, you cannot become a citizen just by studying in the US. You can invite your wife and children only if you can show that you have enough money to support them while you are in school as they are not allowed to work.
