I am trying to cut down my guest list without eliminating friends and family. I have never met them by the way.
Do I have to invite spouces of co-workers to my wedding?
According to Miss Manners, a social invitation (unlike a business invitation) is never issued to just one member of a married or engaged couple. Are you sure you want to invite your co-workers? Do you see these people socially? That is, do you share activities with them that are not related to work?
I'm worring this point because it seems odd to me to know people well enough (socially that is, not in a business sense) to invite to such a formal social occasion and yet have never so much as met ANY of the spouses. Inviting people you don't really know socially to a wedding is usually viewed as fishing for gifts.
If you want some special way to celebrate with your co-workers, I suggest you see your boss about giving a "work party" and supplying a cake or catered lunch or some other treat instead of inviting business associates to a social event.

If someone is married, or in a serious relationship, it is considered poor etiquette not to invite their spouse..... very tacky.

A good rule of thumb for crossing people off the list:
1. If you dont have their home phone number
2. If you havent visited them or been out with them in the past 12 months.
I think if you follow these guidelines you'll find it much easier.
Not inviting someones spouse can offend people even more than not sending them an invitation at all.
Reply:Talk to your co-workers first and ask them how they feel. Normally, people are OK with going to a work function and lots of married people would prefer to not be at a table with all people who work together so it should work out. I would talk to them first.

If you are limited in space or budget, I see no harm in inviting your co-workers only (no spouses, guests, or significant others). Just be sure to seat them all together so they are near others they know at your reception.

When will the Masters invite a woman to play, if ever?
If a woman qualifies by one of the prescribed rules, she will get to play. For example, if Michelle Wie had won the USGA Amateur event that she entered last year, she would have qualified. She didn't win, so she didn't qualify. Now that she has turned pro, she would have to qualify a different way.

Reply:I don't remember the exact qualifications, but don't you need to be in the top XX on the PGA money list for that to happen? I suppose that's the toughest way. The other was to win the Amateur tourney with all the match play. I don't remember which one, but it's probably the final one. I vaguely remember reading about it once when I was following Michelle Wie.
When will it actually happen? Probably not in 100 years.

He repeatedly stated during the recent row with the head of the National Organziation of Women, Martha Burk, that they would not invite a woman. While August National's membership is fairly secret, there are no female members. Women are allowed to play the course as guests, however.
To comment on Arbitrage's answer, there are 17 qualifications for invitation to the Masters.
1. Masters Tournament Champions (Lifetime)
2. US Open Champions (Honorary, non-competing after 5 years)
3. British Open Champions (Honorary, non-competing after 5 years)
4. PGA Champions (Honorary, non-competing after 5 years)
5. Winners of The Players Championship (3 years)
6. Current US Amateur Champion (6-A) (Honorary, non-competing after 1 year) and the runner-up (6-B) to the current US Amateur Champion

I has a limit .. a variable one.. And I cannot invite more than 14-15 persons ... In the first days of yahoo! 360 I had 100 outstanding invites. What`s going on ?

How can you invite a girl/guy out for lunch without them thinking you like them romantically?
I swear, whenever I invite some acquaintance I just met in college out for lunch, she thinks I want something more. Or whenever I invite some guy out, he thinks I'm gay. After that, we don't talk anymore.
What the hell? I just want to become friends with my new acquaintances; why is that so hard?
Tell me how you do it please!
How can you invite a girl/guy out for lunch without them thinking you like them romantically?
Get it ALL out in the open, makes both parties feel so much more comfrontable. Like the next time you take a lady out, in one of those little moments of slience sort of say something like. "You know your extremely nice person, but everytime I do this with someone they don't understand my motives so I just want to get it right out in the open, that I'm just trying to get to know you, as a friend now, so chill, relax, enjoy yourself, hows the classes?" If its a guy thou just mention, "Hey buddy you know I'm not gay right? Everyone goes gayopobic on me, when I'm not anything like that, just trying to make some connections you know, see what the vibe is" or another round about way with that is just talk about all the sexy girls around, that has a tendency to beat back that gayophonbia... its just let it out in the open in your own unqiue style. The cool thing about this, is if they are liking you (you know appricated the outing, think your a geniune guy) you can't say it wrong. If there not vibe with you it doesn't matter any ways everything you say is wrong, get? So just don't let them make up there own minds on this, tell them, you AND them well feel alot more comfrontable. Had this happen when I've ask to sit next to a girl looking a little lonely in the coffee shop, but I've got my own technques. But everytime unless I explain better while I there, they tend to be a little cold, but as soon as I get it out in the open, I make a new friend! Amazing stuff that honesty!
